Here is the project of yesterday….new shoes for Claire. I made these for her yesterday using a pattern that I bought. Not too hard, but they are a little big so they don’t stay on very well. We will just have to wait for Claire to grow some more.

Adventures in Crochet
The day before Claire was born I decided that I would crochet a blanket for her (as I was already past due, she didn’t seem like she would be coming anytime soon, and I had told people at work that I wouldn’t be there the next week and needed something to do.) I finally finished it last Friday. It took a lot longer than I anticipated, but now after a little help in pattern reading from Kadie I can at least say that I know the basics.
And now for what you all really want to see….
Here is Claire with her new blanket this morning. She continues to grow and learn new tricks. Currently she is excellent at holding her head up, standing and sitting with some help so she doesn’t fall over, smiling (not always on command but sometimes), clicking her tongue, rolling onto her side, and being most adorable!

Christmas Break
Mark got/took two weeks off at Christmas this year so that meant two weeks down in Utah with our families. We spent most of the week before Christmas up in Logan with Mark’s family. We played several games with Mary and Isaac, hung out at Kirk and Jessica’s (the boys played Starcraft II, surprise, surprise), ate yummy food at Sharon’s, went out to lunch at Hamilton’s with Mark’s grandma, and spent a day with Sara and her family.
We had a fancy and tasty Christmas Eve dinner at Mark’s parent’s.
Then had Christmas morning at Mary’s house. Here is Claire in her cute Santa outfit that Mary found for her.
Claire got a few toys and dolls. We got some new games and movies. Mark also got me a serger (which I just ordered yesterday) and I gave mark an IOU for a blanket that will cover his feet (I didn’t have time to work on it in the midst of our other projects (mostly working on Claire’s blessing dress)).
The day after Christmas both Claire and Trevor were blessed in Mark’s parent’s/Mary’s ward. It was neat to have both of them blessed on the same day and to have so much family there too (even Kadie and her family).
We went to the Salisbury Christmas party after that and then headed down to South Jordan. While we were there we got to hang out with Kadie and her family which doesn’t happen very often. We played games, went to IN-N-OUT, went to temple square, saw the movie “Tangled”, and took family pictures.

Claire
Thanksgiving
Claire made her second trip to Utah for Thanksgiving (we went back to Boise so Mark could sing in Hymns of Thanksgiving). One of the first things that she did was have her toes painted by her Aunt Maddie.
We also went bowling as part of my birthday celebration.
And we had Thanksgiving dinner too….
Kirk and Jessica’s Wedding
Claire made her first trip to Utah for Mark’s brother’s wedding in Logan. We had dinner at the Coppermill the night before. They got married in the Logan temple that morning (which Claire slept through, yay!), a luncheon at the church and then a reception at the Old Rock Church in Providence. We are happy to have Jessica in the family!
Us and the bride and groom.

Mark and Claire got to have their first daddy-daughter dance.
Claire also got to meet her cousin Trevor that is 20 days younger than her.

The rest of life before Claire (catching up)
There are a few big things that we did this summer/fall before Claire was born that I didn’t put on the blog yet.
Park City
We spent a few days with Ty and Heather in Park City at the beginning of August. We played disc golf at Solitude (with Kirk and Jessica too),
played at Park City Resort (I was the official photographer since I was pregnant),
went to a Utah Symphony concert at Deer Valley and played some games. It was a good time! Thanks for letting us crash your anniversary trip.
Mark’s Backpacking Trip
At the beginning of September Mark went backpacking with some guys from the ward. They went up to Twenty Mile Lakes. They did the usual – hiked, fished, read, freed chipmunks, ate, swam. They had a good time, but I was glad when he got home.
Florida
In the middle of September we went to Florida with Kadie and her family as an anniversary trip/our last hoo-ra before becoming parents. The trip was planned by our lovely travel agent, Kadie. She knows her Disney (we had had daily disney emails from her for a few months before the trip so that we too could be knowledgeable). We spent eight days at Disney World and one day at Kennedy Space Center/the beach. It was tons of fun!!!
